From all the comments gathered at the Love Higham Day (held in February 2017), it is obvious that you would all like a safe, healthy, clean and tidy village. The rural environment is important to you as is the community spirit. Most of you love living in the village and its sustainability is the key to the future.

Love Higham Day February 2017

Like many communities across the country, Higham Parish Council has worked with residents to create a ‘Village Plan for Higham’. This process is backed by the Government and we aimed to write a Plan which would improve our village over the next 10 years (2018-2028).

Our Village Plan covers the important issues that influence our village in the future (initially until 2028).

The Plan contains the following key information:

  • identifies key facilities and services
  • sets out the problems that need to be tackled and
  • show how distinctive characteristics and features can be conserved.

It includes an Action Plan with timescales and this will be monitored regularly by the Parish Council to check on progress. The Action Plan is a working document and will be updated as new ideas and issues arise in Higham.

The Higham Village Plan has been published and you can view it by clicking on the image:

Paper copies of the plan are available in the library.

The Plan is used to inform the Parish Council, other councils and service providers about the opinions of Higham residents on the the issues our village and its residents feel are important for the future good of the village. This will help prioritise actions and allocate resources that are available to the Parish Council.

This first version is a starting point – a living, working document which will evolve over the next 10 years. It will be reviewed and updated – residents will be kept up to date with progress and new actions.

What has been achieved so far?

In mid 2020, the Love Higham website will close to allow the redirection of the traffic from this site to the brand-new look Parish Council website which was launched in November 2020 in direct response to the consultation process at the Love Higham Day. Our website will shortly be THE place to view Village Plan online and be the home of all published updates relating to our progress with the items raised at the Love Higham meeting back in 2017.

As well as the launch of the new website and Facebook page, we are gradually ticking off items that parishioners wished to be addressed in the plan and here is an update on projects and items that have been completed up to December 2020 by your Parish Council:
